The Windows 7 operating system is great and suits most of the user's needs. But imagine that you could customize its look and feel beyond the possibilities offered by Microsoft, beyond the options available inside the operating system. Every user is different and so are his needs, so it would be great to bend Windows 7 to the user's will. A software that can thoroughly customize Windows 7 is Windows 7 Manager. The name states the program's purpose, which is managing and customizing the operating system.

Windows 7 Manager installs in a flash and it's light on the system resources. Also, it takes up little disk space. Of course, it supports Windows 7 only, but users running Windows Vista or XP shouldn't worry. There are also versions of the program for each of these two operating systems.

At first, the interface seems a bit complicated, because of the large number of options available, but a beginner will get used to it quickly, as every function is intuitive and self-explanatory. The software is basically organized in tabs, each one addressing a certain area of the operating system. For example, the first tab is related to displaying various information regarding the operating system, like showing the running processes, for quickly identifying the ones that aren't needed or displaying complete hardware information, similar to the System Information utility included in Windows, but with greater functionality. Also, the first tab of Windows 7 Manager allows the user to quickly optimize the operating system by following a couple of easy steps. This is ideal for beginners.

One of the features of Windows 7 Manager is the possibility to cleanup unwanted files and unneeded registry keys, thus gaining hard disk space and also improving the speed of the operating system, while keeping it error-free. Besides this, the user can customize the cache level of the CPU and also the amount of physical memory allowed by Windows to be used by programs. Modifying this improves the performance of the applications.

Besides customizing the technical and the functional part of the operating system, Windows 7 Manager also allows configuring the visual aspect, like adding unlocked themes or changing the icons of certain files. Security can also be improved using this software, by applying certain restrictions and rules that can't be managed by default from Windows.

Even Internet Explorer can be thoroughly customized using Windows 7 Manager. The program currently supports IE8 and IE9. Besides including various tweaking utilities, the software also offers a quick way to access the default Windows application, all gathered in one place. These are stored into various tabs, according to their purpose.

Pros

It allows completely modifying the Windows 7 operating system, according to the user's needs. Moreover, the features are intuitive and easy to use even by beginners.

Cons

The program runs a bit too slow, especially when switching from a tab to another. This happens even on high-end computers. Windows 7 Manager is the perfect software for completely tweaking the Windows 7 operating system.
